About us
Note: The members of Grenzkommando Nord, GR-20,7GK do not support the ideas of extremist ideas or regimes, nor are members or supporters of any group promoting hate or extremist views and ideas. Should any member be found in violation of this, they are immediately excused from the unit. This reenacting unit exists to learn about history and educate others.

Grenzkommando Nord, Grenzregiment-20, 7th Grenzkompanie was formed in 2016 and had it's debut at Muster on the Maumee, a timeline event held at Fort Meigs in Perrysburg, Ohio. Starting originally as two members with a general interest in East German militaria, the unit quickly grew in size and also experience an increase in seriousness toward the impression and research. The following year making another appearance at Muster on the Maumee before finally deciding to establish a full reenacting unit based on a real Grenztruppen unit. The ultimate decision was Grenzkommando Nord (Border Command North), Grenzregiment-20 (Border Regiment 20), 7th Grenzkompanie. (7th Border Company).
In recent time, the unit has grown not only in numbers, but also in information and material. Boasting a selection of original uniforms and equipment, including functioning UFT 721 radios and copies of original Grenztruppen / NVA manuals to better understand the structure of the Grenztruppen Der DDR as well as the day to day operations of a "Grenzer".
A majority of our members reside in Ohio, however we have members in nearby states as well. We are willing to recruit anyone who is with in the Ohio region.
Functions at events
Our unit is capable of conducting several activities while at events...

- Living History - While in "Living History" mode, our unit will behave much like the Grenztruppen would in their day to day activities. From eating on the field to patrolling an area that has been designated as a "border" region. Encounters with individuals in these areas are conducted in a realistic fashion based completely off of the Grenztruppen field manual.
- Static Displays / Lectures - For more personal interaction "out of character", our members are knowledgeable of not only the history of the Inner-German border, but the drama that unfolded in the region also. Uniforms, equipment, weapons, and information are all discussed and shared.
